Now that you’ve found me, let me begin by telling you what you won’t find on this blog. I won’t be exercising my dormant journalistic muscles: no politics, opinions, social media commentary, and so forth. In two words: No drama!

What can you expect?

This site will chronicle “Life after India” — following my return to the Mendocino Coast, I now live on a quiet, spacious ranch in Manchester. Life now could not be more opposite from 27 months in India, which I do truly miss, but a rich life goes forward. The quiet and natural beauty here lend themselves perfectly as the “writer’s retreat” that my husband wanted me to have in California. The animals and bird life I am surrounded by are photogenic and immensely amusing, providing fodder for entertaining anecdotes about life among them. I’m looking forward to posting both stills and short videos taken while observing these fascinating creatures.

My “Good Books” posts were always popular reports on what I was reading in India; this feature will carry over to this blog.

As I have time, I’ll begin to post reprints of my earlier travel and feature articles that were published by magazines and newspapers beginning in the 1990s, before I arrived in Fort Bragg and was still traveling extensively throughout the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska) Canada, Mexico, France, Italy and India. I’m also eager to share earlier photos — many previously published in a wide range of mediums, including publications, greeting cards, postcards, and calendars, etc.

I plan to have fun with this blog by documenting through stories, essays, reprints and photos the places I’ve traveled; animals that I encounter and enjoy; and the people I have known, admired and respected. I’ll probably include some pages about simple gardening, vegetarian food and easy-to-follow recipes from time to time, as well.
